The motif: Moominpappa takes his family and moves to a lighthouse where they start a new life. The new life for the Moomin family is hard and exhausting and challenges them to reflect on who they really are. True to its origins is actually two stories intertwined, "The Father and the Sea" and "Late November" and the melancholic story reflects the sadness and longing Tove felt for her mother who passed away.
The series "True to its origins" includes a mug, plate, bowl, jars, serving bowl and teapot.
Time of change
In two intertwined stories, The Father and the Sea and Late November, Tove's grief and longing for her mother is conveyed with warm wisdom. At the same time, she reflects on how life is changing and the opportunities it brings.
Tove writes her last Moomin book in late November after her mother's death. The melancholic story has no Moomins - the only characters are the other inhabitants of Moominvalley, all of whom are longing for the Moomins to return. With skillful and accurate illustrations, she describes her own life where sea and wind, light and shadow represent the strong emotions she experiences. When Tove withdraws from the world to sketch and write her last Moomin book, she feels her mother's closeness.
At the same time, a group of lonely people from Moominvalley come looking for the Moomin family. Everyone has their own personal reasons for going to the Moominhouse. That's why they are so disappointed when they can't find the family anywhere. However, Filifjonkan, Hemulen, Mymlan, Snufkin and the others remain in the house and try to live like their beloved Moomin family. They learn a lot about themselves.
Changes in life pave the way for new opportunities. In the book Daddy and the Sea, the Moomin family has decided to move to a lighthouse. The autumn sea and the island they live on are unpredictable and everyone experiences the new environment in their own way. Moomintroll is lonely. Moominmamma misses her home and Moominpappa is trying to understand the forces of nature. The only one who is still the same is Little My. She doesn't care about the mystery and the sometimes gloomy atmosphere on the island.
