History of the motif: The story of Moominmamma's maid Misabel was published as a cartoon series under the name "Pretend Play" in 1956. In the cartoon series, Misabel seeks the position of a maid in the Moomin family and with her dog Ynk.
Misabel is a scared character who behaves a bit neurotically, especially when she is cleaning. She looks unhappy standing in her apron, but still manages to help Moominmamma with the many household chores. Misabel and Ynk the dog share secrets, which Snorkmaiden finds out and helps Misabel find a solution to her problems. After that, life becomes much easier for Misabel and Ynk who learn to play and be happy like the rest of the Moomin family.
On the tableware we can see Misabel washing the dishes. Moominmamma tells Misabel that she always washes the dishes with rainwater. Misabel looks at the mountain of dishes and realizes that it hasn't rained for a long time. In the second motif of the mug, Misabel is scrubbing rag rugs and Moominmamma tells her that she rinses the rugs by swimming with them.
