History of the motif: The cartoon series "Moomin on the Riviera" from 1955 has been chosen as the motif for the Snorkmaiden mug. In the story, Snorkmaiden and Moominpappa are bored and dream of a luxurious life on the Riviera. The Moomin family sails to France where, unfortunately, they encounter many mishaps and misunderstandings.
Snorky likes attention and likes to be the center of attention. She both charms and likes to be charmed by her surroundings and therefore manages to win at the casino. With the money she buys a bikini. The story is a good illustration of how Snorkmaiden combines femininity and vanity with courage and resourcefulness.
The image on the mug shows Snorkmaiden trying on a bikini for the first time in her life, but the reflection is not flattering.
